5B

Before intervening, choose your intent for the loop: BUILD a missing one, BREAK a harmful one, BOOST a weak one, BALANCE a volatile one, or BEND a misaimed one.

You have finally mapped the pattern that owns your evenings: stress leads to doomscrolling, doomscrolling delays sleep, short sleep raises next-day stress. Now you want to do something about it, and everything sounds appealing at once: delete the apps, meditate, buy a sunrise alarm. Acting without choosing an intent is how interventions turn into clutter.

5B is a gate you pass before intervening in any dynamic: pick exactly which change you intend. BUILD a missing loop that should exist but does not, such as a wind-down routine that reinforces itself. BREAK a harmful loop, cutting the stress-to-scroll link. BOOST a desirable loop that runs but too weakly, like your sporadic exercise habit. BALANCE a volatile dynamic that swings wildly without needing destruction. BEND a functioning loop that is aimed at the wrong target, redirecting it rather than stopping it. The operation: state your loop, ask which of the five verbs names your actual intent, and let that choice filter which interventions are even relevant. What changes is that your options collapse from everything to a short, coherent list. These are value choices, not causal facts, so do not run 5B before you have validated that the dynamic is real; intent applied to an imaginary loop just organizes your confusion.
