Ceiling Hunt

Ask which resource, capacity, trust, or permission will cap the next gain before you chase it.

Your Etsy shop doubled from 200 to 400 dollars a month, and the obvious plan is to double again: more listings, more ads. Before you spend the ad money, though, there is a question worth 30 seconds: what runs out first? Because something always does, and it is cheaper to find it now than to discover it after the ad spend.

Ceiling Hunt asks which resource, capacity, trust, attention, or permission will limit the next gain, before you chase that gain. The cue is any growth push, any plan whose logic is more of what worked. The operation: list the candidate ceilings for your situation (your evening hours, packaging supplies, your spouse's patience with boxes in the hallway, platform rules on your product category), then estimate which one binds first at double the volume. If your hands cap out at 30 orders a month, the constraint is production, and ads will buy you a backlog of angry customers rather than growth. What changes is that you invest in raising the real ceiling before pressing the accelerator. Skip the hunt when you are far below every plausible limit; premature constraint analysis on a tiny operation is procrastination dressed as strategy.
