Change the Observer

When one viewpoint is treated as the whole situation, write one sentence each from the actor, recipient, operator, outsider, and future-self views.

The family group chat has gone quiet since the argument about where to hold the holidays, and the version of events in your head is complete, coherent, and entirely yours. That's the problem. One viewpoint is being treated as the whole situation, which is the specific cue this heuristic exists for, and no amount of rethinking from inside the same viewpoint will add information you don't have.

Change the Observer is a 30-second widening. The procedure: write one honest sentence each from five stationed views. The actor (your sister, who proposed the change): "I offered to host because I thought I was relieving Mom." The recipient (Mom): "The tradition mattered more to me than the labor." The operator (whoever actually makes holidays run, maybe your spouse): "Either way I'm cooking; I just want a decision." The outsider: "A family arguing about logistics because nobody named what the tradition means." Your future self: "In five years I'll remember whether we gathered, not where." Five sentences, and the fight usually reveals itself as a values collision wearing a logistics costume, which changes what you'd actually say next. The spec's warning: do not fabricate private motives. Write what each view would plausibly see, not what you'd like them to secretly feel.
