When a present state seems inexplicable, draw the before, transition, and now frames, then predict the next one.

You look up at 43 and genuinely cannot explain your own career. The current frame, this industry, this role, this city, feels arbitrary, almost like it happened to someone else. A present state examined in isolation often is inexplicable, because the explanation isn't in the snapshot. It's in the frames you're not looking at.

Snapshot to Movie is a 30-second heuristic for exactly this cue: a present state that appears inexplicable on its own. The procedure: draw three frames like a comic strip. Frame one, before: where you were ten years ago and what you were optimizing for. Frame two, the transition: the two or three actual pivot points, the job you took for the money, the move for the relationship. Frame three, now. Then add a fourth: the next likely frame if current dynamics simply continue. The present usually stops being mysterious the moment it becomes a trajectory; you can see that each step was locally sensible, and you can see the direction the film is heading, which is the actionable part. It works when "how did I get here?" turns into "here's the arc, and here's where it goes next unless I cut." The spec's warning: do not invent missing history. Reconstruct what actually happened; a fabricated backstory explains nothing.
