Seizing the Middle
The strategic principle of controlling the center position in a competition—physically (in chess or military strategy), conceptually (in framing debates), or commercially (in market positioning). The middle provides maximum flexibility and reach, allowing you to respond to threats from any direction. In negotiations, seizing the middle means establishing the anchor or default around which discussion revolves.
