Erotic Blueprints Framework
The Erotic Blueprints, developed by somatic sexologist Jaiya, identify five primary erotic types based on what turns people on at the most fundamental level: Energetic (aroused by anticipation, tease, space, breath, and subtle energy—easily overwhelmed by too much stimulation), Sensual (aroused by all senses—taste, touch, smell, sight, sound—requiring full sensory environments), Sexual (aroused by what we traditionally think of as 'sex'—nudity, genital stimulation, intercourse—straightforward and direct), Kinky (aroused by what is taboo, forbidden, or psychologically edgy—power play, novelty, the forbidden), and Shapeshifter (aroused by all of the above, able to access all blueprints but often feeling overwhelmed by the range of needs). Most people have a primary blueprint and a shadow (the type they're least comfortable with).
When to use it
When sexual compatibility seems elusive despite mutual attraction. When standard sexual advice doesn't resonate. When couples need a typology for discussing preferences without shame. When expanding erotic range as a personal or relational development goal.
How it can help
For knowledge workers who appreciate typological frameworks, the Erotic Blueprints provide a practical mapping tool for sexual compatibility. Use it to: (1) identify your primary blueprint and your partner's—are you speaking the same erotic language? (2) expand your erotic range by developing comfort with your shadow blueprint, (3) design sexual encounters that speak to your partner's blueprint rather than defaulting to your own, (4) understand why some sexual advice (more foreplay, more communication, more novelty) works for some people but not others—it depends on blueprint, (5) use the framework as a non-judgmental conversation starter about sexual preferences.
