Preference Aggregation

Preference aggregation combines individual preferences into a collective ranking or choice under an explicit rule. Arrow's theorem shows an incompatibility among specified conditions for ordinal social-ranking rules with at least three alternatives; it does not invalidate all practical decision procedures.
