Duplication
The ability to reproduce a useful artifact, offering, or output with sufficient consistency. Duplication can reduce repeated design effort and make an offering available more widely. Copying a whole operating system or business location adds a different level of coordination and local adaptation.
Duplication concerns making another usable instance of something already designed. The central question is what must remain the same for the copy to preserve value: dimensions, wording, materials, software behavior, or another important property. A reliable process can reduce repeated design effort, but making copies faster can also spread a defect faster.
Replicating an entire operating system is a larger undertaking than copying one output. A second workshop needs people, equipment, coordination, and demand as well as the same product design. Keep these units distinct. For any proposed copy, identify both the features that should be preserved and the conditions that must be adapted locally.
When to use it
When making repeated products, distributing learning materials, reusing administrative artifacts, or deciding which parts of a process should remain consistent.
How it can help
Helps identify what should be standardized, what needs quality checks, and what can be reused instead of recreated for every instance.
