Multiplying by Zero

A finite product is zero when any factor is zero. As a practical heuristic, this highlights a genuinely necessary missing dependency in a justified multiplicative or series-path model.

For an ordinary finite product, any zero factor makes the product zero. A practical application requires evidence that the outcome really depends multiplicatively on necessary factors. A service delivered through several required stages may have such a structure, while a system with alternative routes can remain useful when one route contributes nothing.

Distinguish a literal zero from a small value, an unmeasured factor, or a dramatic label. Trust, strategy, and distribution are not automatically numerical factors whose product defines all results. The useful question is whether a specific requirement is absent and whether another path can satisfy it, not which weakness can be described most forcefully.
