Multiplication

In Josh Kaufman's business usage, multiplication means reproducing an entire process or operating system so it can deliver value in additional instances. This differs from duplicating an individual output and from diversifying into new products. Successful replication depends on local demand, capability, resources, and coordination.

The unit being reproduced is a working arrangement, not merely another item it produces. A second repair workshop needs intake, tools, skills, scheduling, quality checks, and a viable flow of requests. Copying the sign or product list while depending on the original founder for every exception has not reproduced the operating system.

Before expanding, find which conditions make the original arrangement work and which must change locally. Replication can expose hidden support costs or exhaust a shared resource. Judge a new instance by its ability to deliver useful outcomes under local conditions, including the burden it imposes on the original.
