Solve the Whole Customer Experience
A service-design principle that examines the user's complete task, including steps before, during, and after interacting with a particular product. It highlights gaps in information, access, responsibility, and support across that journey.
Trace the person's task across the boundaries of your product. A useful feature may depend on finding the service, understanding eligibility, bringing the right information, recovering from an error, and obtaining support. The whole experience is defined by the task and circumstances, not by every possible interaction a provider could add.
Choose a concrete gap and decide who can address it. Sometimes the answer is a better handoff or clearer responsibility with another provider, rather than bringing every step under one organization. Evaluate end-to-end task success and burden while preserving the quality of the core product; neither layer universally outranks the other.
