Result-to-route map
Decide before looking what you'll do for a supportive, contrary, mixed, invalid, or ambiguous result.
You're one week from finishing a month-long sabbatical experiment, the trial you designed to learn whether stepping back from your career is what you actually want. And you can feel the incoming dodge: if the month felt great, you'll say "it was just novelty," and if it felt hollow, you'll say "one month isn't enough." Every result has a pre-built escape hatch.
Result-to-route map is the move of deciding, before you look at the outcome, what you'll do for each kind of result: supportive, contrary, mixed, invalid, or ambiguous. The cue is noticing you could explain away any outcome after the fact. The operation: write the branches down now. Felt alive and productive: begin planning the transition. Felt aimless by week three: recommit to the job and address burnout directly. Mixed: extend the trial with one specific change. The month got derailed by a family emergency: result invalid, rerun it. What changes is that the result actually moves you somewhere, because the routes were frozen while you were still neutral. Skip the map for tiny reversible checks where you'd react sensibly in the moment anyway.
