The plan feels leveraged and exciting. Excitement is precisely what this gate exists to interrogate, because in this system no amount of upside can offset a safety failure.

PULSE is a non-negotiable check run on any candidate intervention before you execute. Five parts. Predicted trajectory: freeze in writing what should happen, over what horizon, including what no action would produce. Uncertainty and unintended loops: where might this backfire, through substitution (secret spending), rebound, or burdens shifted onto someone else, like a spouse who never agreed? Leverage: does the move touch a structure that actually controls the outcome, and is it within your authority to change? Safety: name protected outcomes (rent, the relationship), one-way doors, safe dose, and how you would roll back. Evidence: set a baseline, a falsifier, and the earliest date results can honestly be judged. Failing any safety or evidence element stops the plan regardless of its brilliance; small is not a safety argument. What changes is that interventions arrive with a rollback plan and a review date attached. Do not treat PULSE as paperwork to backfill after acting; the freeze must precede the move.
