Brake, Reserve, or Cap
A process is volatile or fragile, but “make it stable” does not identify the change. Compare a weaker response, a stored buffer, and a hard response limit against the actual failure.
Too reactive? Brake. No cushion? Reserve. Blowouts? Cap.
A brake reduces how strongly the process responds. A reserve absorbs variation using stored capacity or resources. A cap bounds a response that can grow too large. Diagnose which mechanism is needed, preserve useful correction, and test one appropriate stabilizer before combining several into an uninterpretable package.

A small delay disrupts everything because there is no slack.
Occasional surges exceed what the process can handle.
