Resequence the steps

Reorder the process so learning, protection, or reversible action comes earlier.

For the certification exam, your routine is: read the chapter, highlight, reread, then, on the final weekend, take a practice test. The test reveals you have been fluently rereading material you cannot actually retrieve, and now there is no time left to fix it. The discovery came last. It should have come first.

Resequence the steps reorders a process so learning, protection, or reversible action comes earlier. The cue: expensive information arriving after the decisions it should have shaped, or risky commitments happening before cheap tests. Steps: list the current order; find the step that generates the most learning per hour (the practice test) or the most protection; move it as early as feasibility allows, taking a diagnostic test before studying each chapter so errors steer what you study; then confirm downstream steps actually use what the early step reveals. The visible change: effort stops flowing into what you already know and concentrates on the gaps, and nasty surprises migrate from the final weekend to week one, when they are cheap. Don't resequence past hard dependencies; testing material you have never seen once has value, twice is noise, and some orders exist to protect something real.
