Change what kind of thing the problem is made of, turning an object into a process, a game, a signal, or an ecology, so new operations become possible.

You've spent two years trying to "find your purpose," as if it were a lost object: search hard enough and one day you'll uncover it, whole and gleaming. The search keeps failing, and maybe that's because the object doesn't exist. Not because purpose isn't real, but because you've made it the wrong kind of thing. Objects are found; processes are built.

REONTOLOGIZE means changing what kind of thing your problem is made of, so new operations become possible. The cue: the default noun-based framing blocks every useful move. Try recasting purpose as different kinds: a process (something you cultivate through repeated action), a signal (information from activities that energize you), an ecology (a fit between you and an environment that must be grown, not located). Each recasting unlocks different verbs. A process can be iterated; a signal can be sampled and read; an ecology can be tended. Prefer the version that makes your next inference cheaper while preserving the facts of your situation. It works when questions you couldn't ask before become natural: "what did this week's signal say?" beats "have I found it yet?" The safeguard: don't mistake an evocative metaphor for identity. Poetic relabeling that enables no new operation is the failure mode.
