Six months of fitness data and the chart looks like noise. Daily weight jumps around; step counts spike weekends and crater Tuesdays; you honestly can't say whether anything is working. The raw numbers aren't wrong. They're just plotted against the wrong reference, and the pattern you need is hiding behind scale and scatter.

REBASIS means changing the denominator, normalization, or coordinate system so the real pattern stops hiding behind raw values. The cue: the signal is buried by raw scale, absolute values, or a badly chosen zero point. Try the standard transforms: weekly averages instead of daily readings (smoothing the noise), percentage change from your starting point instead of absolute pounds (indexing to baseline), steps per waking hour instead of per day (a fairer denominator across long and short days), or aligning weeks side by side to compare like with like. Choose the basis that makes valid like-with-like comparison possible. It works when a stable trend or genuine anomaly becomes visible without distortion: weekly-average weight turns out to be falling steadily under all that daily chop. Two safeguards from the spec: always display your units and keep the raw values accessible, and beware normalization that manufactures a story, the transform chosen because it produces the trend you wanted.
