RESEQUENCE

Make the order of events explicit, because the same ingredients in a different sequence produce a different outcome.

You're teaching yourself statistics and it isn't sticking. You watch lectures, do practice problems, read the textbook chapter, in that order, because that's the order they arrived in. A friend covering the same material in a different order, problems first, then reading to repair what broke, is moving twice as fast. Same ingredients, different sequence, different outcome.

RESEQUENCE means making the order of events explicit and treating it as a variable you can change. The cue: the same elements produce different results depending on when they happen. Map the sequence as before, during, and after. Then experiment: reverse the order, insert checkpoints where you test yourself, separate phases that are currently blurred together, and flag any step that's irreversible so it gets extra care. Prefer the sequence that reveals a dependency or a delay you hadn't seen, like discovering that attempting problems before reading is what makes the reading stick. It works when changing the order changes your predicted outcome or your next action. One caution from the spec: don't infer causality from chronology alone. B following A doesn't mean A caused B, and a decorative timeline that changes nothing about your plan is wasted effort.
