Boundary Sweep

If your carefully studied system keeps surprising you, the missing relationship may sit just outside its border. Briefly include what feeds it, what follows it, a neighboring actor, and an effect it sends elsewhere.

Upstream → downstream → adjacent → external cost → prune.

Boundary Sweep changes what your account includes. Add a nearby input, consequence, neighboring actor, and effect outside the current frame, then retain only additions useful for the present purpose. The result may improve an explanation, reveal uncertainty, or suggest a better question. New relationships stay hypotheses until evidence supports them; expanding the border alone proves nothing.
