Draw Before Explain

You can name the parts, but explaining how they depend on one another ties your sentences in knots. Sketch nodes and labeled arrows first, then remove any connection you cannot define and use the drawing to guide the explanation.

Name nodes. Type arrows. Remove vague edges. Explain from the sketch.

A dependency sketch makes relationships visible before you try to carry them through prose. Choose clear nodes and give each arrow a plain-language meaning, such as requires, provides input to or must finish before. Delete an undefined edge; mark a defined but unverified relation as a hypothesis. The diagram organizes claims without making them true.

We keep confusing what happens first with what must happen first.

The arrows look clear until somebody asks what they mean.
