Manipulable Toy

When a plausible idea still has vague consequences, make a tiny version you can change. Move one piece or vary one input and watch what your assumptions imply.

Small model → one changeable input → visible consequence → question the assumptions.

A manipulable toy can be a spreadsheet, movable cards, a simulation, or a physical model. Include only the relationships needed for one useful question, and make one variable easy to change. The toy reveals consequences inside its assumptions; it does not show that those assumptions accurately describe the world.

At what point would this plan stop fitting?

Could we move the pieces around before committing?

What changes if this estimate is a little wrong?
