Reversible First Step

A large commitment makes every possible action feel too big. Find a small action you can undo that still teaches you something relevant to the decision.

Shrink the commitment. Keep the learning. Name the undo.

Order possible first actions by how difficult they are to reverse. Choose the smallest one that could change your understanding or direction, then specify the observation and the way back. Reversible means the important consequences can be undone; it never means costless.

Try this when…

I cannot commit to the whole thing yet.

Researching it is no longer teaching me anything.

I want to try without getting locked in.

This small step might mean more to others than I intend.
