Wait for a Signal
Waiting may be sensible, but “we will see” leaves the decision unattended. Name the incoming signal, a deadline, and the action each possible result will trigger.
Signal. Deadline. Triggered action.
Turn delay into an explicit option. Specify what information is expected, who watches for it, how long waiting remains worthwhile, and what happens when the signal arrives or fails to arrive. Include the cost of postponement and any opportunity that could expire.
Try this when…
We will know more soon, but nobody is watching.
I am waiting without knowing what would make me act.
The decision keeps sliding to next week.
A specific announcement could change the whole plan.
What you can use it for
Dependent plans
Wait for a real availability or permission signal before committing resources.
Purchases and logistics
Use a deadline to compare the value of information with the cost of delay.
Group coordination
Assign monitoring and predetermined next actions so a paused decision stays owned.
