Pilot

Run a bounded, real version of the option with explicit success and stop conditions.

A new AI note-taking tool could transform how your team runs meetings, or it could be another shiny thing that dies in a month. Rolling it out to everyone means migration, training, and eating your credibility if it flops. So the idea sits in your someday column, aging.

Reversible probe is an option form, one of the commitment structures a choice can take: a small action designed from the start so you can fully undo it after learning from it. It differs from a pilot in emphasis; the probe's defining feature is complete reversibility. The cue is an attractive option whose main risk is unknown fit, where a taste would teach a lot. Run it in three steps: design the smallest version that produces real learning (you alone use the tool for your own meetings for two weeks), confirm the undo is genuinely total (export notes, delete account, nothing migrated, nobody retrained), and name what you are watching for before you start, such as whether you actually consult the summaries. What visibly changes is that trying becomes nearly free, so you stop needing to be sure before you touch anything. A probe is the wrong form when the small version cannot teach you about the big one, or when even brief exposure has consequences you cannot take back.
