Wait-and-monitor
Deliberately hold position while actively watching for the information that will decide.
Every few weeks another AI writing tool launches, and your newsletter-producer friends split between evangelists and skeptics. You feel pressure to adopt something now so you are not left behind, but the landscape reshuffles monthly, and each migration would cost you a week of setup and relearning.
Wait-and-monitor is an option form in which you deliberately hold position while actively watching for the information that will decide, which is different from mere procrastination in one crucial way: the watching is structured. The cue that it fits is a decision where the environment is changing fast enough that acting now buys mostly churn, yet ignoring the space would let you fall genuinely behind. Set it up in three steps: name what you are monitoring and where (two specific newsletters that review these tools, plus your two friends' real experience), define the trigger that ends the wait (a tool stable for six months that demonstrably saves an hour per issue), and schedule the check so monitoring actually happens, say 20 minutes monthly. What visibly changes is the ambient anxiety stops, because not-adopting is now a chosen position with an exit condition rather than a guilty drift. This form turns poisonous when waiting has a compounding cost, or when no named trigger exists; then it is just avoidance with a dashboard.
