Sharp Handoff
You explain the task, yet the receiver returns something different or keeps asking for missing pieces. Package the transfer so they can start, understand their authority, recognize completion and handle exceptions without guessing.
Trigger. Context. Output. Rights. Check. Fallback. File.
A handoff is a designed connection between people or tools. Include what starts it, current assumptions and state, the needed output and deadline, decision rights, an observable check, the failure path, and where feedback and the next state belong. Ask the receiver to confirm their understanding, sharing only the context the work requires.
Try this when…
I thought they knew which version to use.
They delivered good work that was not what I needed.
Nobody knew what to do when the input was missing.
Every transfer generates another clarification thread.
What you can use it for
Delegated assignments
Give a helper a bounded output, usable inputs and clear authority.
Role transitions
Carry live commitments and exception routes to a successor.
Service coordination
Make a request specific enough for the receiver to act and return a checkable result.
