Reroute

When part of a working setup is going badly, hand that one piece to a different person or tool and leave everything else alone.

You are 11 weeks into training for a half marathon and the plan is mostly working. But Sunday nights have turned sour. You sit with your watch in one hand and a spreadsheet open, typing in distance, pace, and heart rate for six runs, squinting at a small screen, fixing a mistyped mile. Forty minutes of it. By the time you get to the part you actually care about, the two lines about how your knee felt, you are tired and you write nothing.

Reroute is the smallest repair in the kit: move one piece of work to a different carrier and change nothing else. The cue is a system that is basically sound with one part visibly grinding, where you can name the exact job and the exact wrong doer. Do three things. Name the one job, here the numeric transfer. Pick a carrier that suits it, an export that syncs the watch to the sheet nightly. Leave the rest untouched, same spreadsheet, same Sunday slot, same plan. What changes is that Sunday becomes 5 minutes and the knee notes get written. It is the wrong move when the grinding part is the point, so do not reroute the noticing itself, and do not reroute when the whole arrangement is failing, since that needs a rebuild, not a swap.
