- D - Direction missing or borrowed
You are chasing a goal you never actually chose; it was inherited from status, convention, or a past version of you.
- R - Result substituted by means or metric
An activity or dashboard number has quietly replaced the outcome it was supposed to produce, so the score rises while nothing real improves.
- I - Interests or legitimacy unresolved
The goal says 'we' but hides who gains, who pays, and who never got a vote.
- F - Fallout or forbidden loss hidden
The headline goal omits the costs and red lines that could make achieving it a victory not worth having.
- T - Target architecture or time mismatch
The goal aims in roughly the right direction but uses the wrong shape, horizon, or precision for how the result actually behaves.
