How do I do it?
Change the form, layout, notation, or way you work with the map.
Choose a named move below to open its instructions.
- Reformat
Re-render the same information in a different representation family (table, diagram, equation, simulation) matched to the operation you actually need to perform.
- Relayout
Rearrange where things sit on the page or screen so that information used together can be seen together in one glance.
- Renotate
Invent stable names, symbols, and legends only when the compression saves more mental effort than the decoding costs.
- Rebasis
Change the coordinate system or denominator (per-capita, log scale, indexed to baseline) so the real pattern stops hiding behind raw numbers.
- Externalize
Move state you keep re-remembering out of your head and into a persistent artifact like a ledger, checklist, or state board.
- Executabilize
Turn a passive explanation into something you can run, vary, and test, like a checklist, spreadsheet, simulation, or prototype.
